This is a drawing of an album cover I've made, as a personal tribute to the American death metal band called "Autopsy" (1987-1995) :skullbones: :headbang: :tombstone:

Autopsy was one of the first founded death metal bands and is therefore considered to be one of the most influential and important death metal bands as well. Founded back in 1987 by Chris Reifert, after leaving "Death" (known as the very first death metal band), Autopsy took death metal to even heavier, darker and more brutal territories. And they certainly proved that by their debut-album "Severed Survival" in 1989.

"Severed Survival" was a shining example of the heaviest and most brutal death metal ever captured on record. This cover art for the album was banned by the world wide distributors soon after its release back in 1989.

The band split up in 1995, after having released 4 full-length studio albums.

I've made this drawing in order to make people remember Autopsy for their effort making and keeping death metal brutal, as it's supposed to be. A lot of people don't even know who Autopsy is, so that's another big reason for making this drawing. :horns: It's so sad that most people today are only focusing on the new bands and don't even know those who was behind it all (such as Death and Autopsy, when it comes to death metal) =/

- Graphite pencils (4H, F & 3B)

- Ca. 14 hours

one of the best debut albums of all time, and certainly in myall time top 5. amazing harmonies from Danny Corrales and Eric Cutler. the solos in "Ridden with Disease" still give me chills. I had this on Red vinyl with the original cover. what a fucking album... great work dude!! :headbang:

Wow...thats both gruesome and amazing! I wonder if this drawing was influenced by Autopsy's first [and banned] album cover ;)
This drawing also reminds me of Nine Inch Nails' Happiness in Slavery video....gruesome! Awesome drawing :+fav:

Nice. "Severed Survival" and "Mental Funeral" are my favorites from Autopsy. "Retribution For The Dead" also has "Severed Survival" attached to it in the vinyl version. "Twisting and writhing as life burns away
Until nothing is left but charred remains!"
